     My parents were avid travelers for a good part of their lives. Not a vacation went by where we would be sitting at home twiddling our thumbs! Plans were made well in advance and the tickets pre-booked. Mum would start packing the bags a week before and the moment the school vacation would start that we would set off on our adventure. Some of my fondest childhood memories consist of these times - traveling by train, going up winding roads, roaming the streets of a new city and munching on different kinds of food. Dad would be armed with his maps and guides ensuring a smooth and hassle free trip for his family while my mother would be manning the luggage especially the food basket. She would ensure that snacks and water were always at hand as a "just in case" kind of precaution.
